Don Johnson Cup Championship - 2009 - Town of Bay Roberts Special Events

Bay Roberts April 19, 2009 The 2009 Don Johnson Cup, Atlantic Jr. ‘B' Championship was decided this afternoon with the Toyota Plaza St. John's Capitals winning the coveted title at the Bay Arena in Bay Roberts, hosted by the Conception Bay North Slateworks Jr. Stars . The game was decided in sudden victory as The Caps defeated the Sherwood A&S Scrap Metal Falcons of Prince Edward Island , with a goal by number 19 Colin Escott at 15:16.

Tournament Chairperson Brian Hurley said that hosting the Don Johnson Cup was indeed an honor and certainly a learning experience for the organizing committee. “ I would like to thank the many volunteers for their commitment to ensure the success of this tournament”.

The championship MVP was awarded to 19 Collin Escott of Toyota Plaza St. John's Capitals. Escott forced overtime at 13:30 of the third period and then scored the winning goal.

Player of the game was awarded to Sherwood A&S Scrap Metal Falcons of Prince Edward Island goalie 35 Chris Dalziel.
